Had the half fried chicken with clam chowder. Chowder should have been served first but I had to find the waiter to ask for it. The chicken was seasoned with salt and pepper and fried. The outside was crunchy and the inside was very moist and tasty.

So, I was driving down stoney point road in Santa Rosa towards Petaluma, when I came upon this old red building. It was two stories and it said tavern on it. I got curious and stopped. It was called the Washoe house and it was a bar and restaurant. I had to try it out. It was a locals place, out among the farms and ranches. A place much like the places I grew up around in Monterey county. Very cool escoteric atmosphere. If you like bars and restaurants that are unique and historical, this is one of these places. In operation since the 1850's. I took a look around the 🏫 lding, and then the bar and dining area. A number of locals were eating and drinking at the bar. The menu was simple, but all home made soups. Prices were ok. I had a beer, french dip and their home made potatoe soup, plus 2 bbq oysters. I could tell the soup was home made by the cream texture, thickness of the soup and the size of the vegetable chunks. If your are traveling the back roads of Sonoma county, I suggest place for a meal and to look around.

This is a very down home. Ruralish place with great basic American food. Great drinks. Good service. The atmosphere is the kind where there are a lot more men than women there. Although a few families. It's a great vibe, but I certainly wouldn't start talking politics with anyone. Love it!

If you are passing through on the 101, do yourself a favor and take the beautiful drive past idyllic California rural land and stop by this historic landmark for a great meal and a down to earth atmosphere. I ordered the NY steak sandwich for lunch... Yum!

Historic building. The staff are very nice. They have a variety of choices in their menu. The atmosphere is ok but tends to get crowded in the weekend.

What a great place! Food was really good. Steak fries are addictive! The tomatoes/lettuce on the burger were fresh. Other party had the French Dip and enjoyed it. Lots of locals. Bar was full of truckers and construction guys. Will certainly be back.
